Which Class is Right for Me?
If you have not trained with us before and your dog is too old for the puppy class (> 6 months) the Good Citizen Improvers class is the place to start. This class is suitable for owners who may be struggling with e.g. adolescent behaviour and are looking for help with having a good family pet, and those beginning their Good Citizen levels.
If you are looking to work through the Good Citizen levels but prefer day time classes we have our Tuesday 2pm classes. Dogs in this class need to be able to work around other dogs.
The 8.30pm Thursday advanced class will enable you to study for the Silver and Gold Good Citizen but is also open to dogs who have already passed Gold level and want to continue to progress their dog’s skills. We are introducing Sherborne Vale Platinum and Diamond levels aimed at challenging all of your dogs skills as a Good Citizen and looking at basic movement and conditioning skills and simple scentwork.
Our trainers have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with you, and a passion for helping owners raise happy, well rounded and socially competent dogs who you would be proud to take anywhere.
Please contact us with any questions you may have.
Prices
All classes are £7.00 for adults, £3.50 for juniors (16 and under) and can be booked up to a month in advance here https://svdtcbookings.as.me/
To attend these classes you must either be member or a guest. Membership is £12.00 per year and will enable you attend other classes (e.g. Agility or Hoopers) and our occasional social events. You are welcome to try one of our classes as a guest before signing up as a member.
What to bring
-
Your dog’s normal collar and (if you use one) harness. A normal collar is flat or a martingale loose enough that when closed 2 fingers fit comfortably beneath it. We do not allow use of headcollars in class but if you usually use one you can bring your dog with one and switch to collar in the hall. Don’t worry if you have a strong puller, we will help if you are having trouble, and the hall is secure. Choke chains, prongs and electric collars are not permitted anywhere in the hall.
-
A standard lead (not an extendable, slip lead or figure 8 lead);
- Plenty of small high value (e.g. soft and smelly such as sausage) treats;
- The normal essentials, e.g. poo bags etc.;
- A toy that is not likely to roll or be knocked into a neighbours space (please avoid balls unless attached to a rope, and squeaky toys as these get the dogs wound up!);
- A grooming brush (bronze level candidates only);
- A mat (needed for silver level and above, optional for bronze/improvers/puppy);
- Water for your dog if required.
